Dr. Sukhpal Singh Gill visited the University of Manitoba (Canada) on the 11th of June 2019, delivering a Guest Lecture on “Holistic Resource Management for Sustainable and Reliable Cloud Computing: An Innovative Solution to Global Challenge”.
In April this year, I’ve had a chance to attend the World Business Council for Sustainable Development(WBCSD) Liaison Delegate Meeting in Montreux, Switzerland, acting as a session host / observer. The WBCSD meetings bring together sustainability representatives from more than 500 global enterprises. The WBCSD provides a unique opportunity for the representatives to discuss sustainability ideas, create plans and decide on the future of environmentally friendly business practices.
My research work focuses on the energy efficiency of large-scale computing installations, making the WBCSD LDM a unique opportunity to take part in and learn about shaping of energy efficient businesses worldwide amongst other areas of sustainability.
I believe the insights I’ve gathered will influence my research agenda and help me to look at the energy efficiency challenges with a much broader spectrum.
